ORBIS Racing Cape Town, won the award for achieving the most first places in the CTMX Club series last year and if the results achieved at round 1 of the club championship are anything to go by, then they will surely emerge as the ‘premier racing team’ in Cape Town in 2015. This year there are one or two additions and one or two changes to the team structure. This is the new look team for 2015:
1. Lucca Mynhardt – 50cc pro Senior
2. Ethan Hoffman – 85ccSW (Development and sponsored rider)
3. Ethan Coleman – 85ccSW
4. Calum Marriott – 85cc SW
5. Justin Sangster – 85cc SW and Pro Mini
6. Storm van Den Heever – 85cc – Pro Mini
8. Kevin Sangster – MX2
9. Kevin Cassie – MX2
Dean Hoffman is our official coach whilst fitness and nutrition will be looked after by Kevin Sangster, a second year student in sports science. Karen Sangster will take care of Race administration and David Bayley and Dean will craft race tactics and strategy. I will manage the team and look after the PRO side of things as well as the logistics / planning.
This is how things went down at the awesome Killarney track on Saturday 24 January.
Lucca Mynhardt dominated the 50cc Pro class – achieving 3 holeshots and winning all three heats. He was challenged in heat 2 by Krige Van Der Merwe, but was never really put under any real pressure. Look out for Lucca at the national series this year. He has developed hugely and Dean will be working on one or two aspects in the next few weeks.
